Former Gov. Paul Cellucci Dies

The former Massachusetts governor battled ALS since 2008.

Former Massachusetts Gov. Paul Cellucci died today at age 65.

Cellucci battled amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or ALS for five years. He passed away at his Hudson home, according to Boston.com.

Cellucci was diagnosed with the disease in 2008, but did not make it public until January 2011, according to the news site.

He served as governor of Massachusetts from 1997 to 2001. He was U.S. Ambassador to Canada during the George W. Bush administration.

A service for Cellucci will be held in Hudson at a date to be determined, according to Boston.com.
