Northeastern Campus to Go 'Smoke Free' with New Smoking Ban

Do you agree or disagree with a smoking ban on campus?

On Monday, Northeastern University announced it would adopt a smoke-free policty to take effect at the start of the 2013 semester. 

The move would make Northeastern one in just over 1,000 universities in the U.S. to ban smoking on campus. Nearby Fenway colleges Wentworth and Wheelock already have both an indoor and outdoor smoking ban. 

"This new policy reflects Northeastern’s long-standing commitment to promoting a healthy and safe environment," said Terry Fulmer, Dean of the Bouvé College of Health Sciences, who had been in charge of the new policy's explortation and research committee.

""The group will spend the coming months fully developing an implementation plan that will include education efforts, and an awareness campaign around smoking cessation resources," she wrote.
