Police Looking for Man Accused of Punching MBTA Driver at Fenway Station

The Boston Police Department is looking for a suspect accused of assaulting the driver of a Green Line train on Sunday.

Police are searching for a man wanted for assaulting an MBTA Green Line driver on Sunday in the Fenway-Kenmore neighborhood.

Police said that on Sunday at 3 p.m., a rider on the "D" branch of the Green Line began yelling at the driver while the train was stopped at the Fenway Station. The suspect continued causing a scene by using racial slurs, then punched her in the arm.

The suspect then excited the train towards Landmark Center.

Police said the suspect is a 50-year-old male who had been wearing a black coat and pushing a shopping cart with computer parts inside.

“Assaults on operators are not common, but unfortunately, they do occur from time to time,” MBTA spokesman Joe Pesaturo wrote in an email to Patch.
