Police: Three Students Found With 10 Pounds of Pot, 100K in Brookline Apartment
A BU student and a Mass. College of Pharmacy student were among those arrested by Brookline Police last week.
A Boston University student and two others were arrested on Monday, allegedly found with 10-15 pounds of marijuana, $117,000 in cash, and two pre-paid cell phones, according to Brookline Police.
Brookline Police arrested Jesse Pomponio, a Boston University student; Alexander Zhang, a Mass College of Pharmacy student, and Trevor Powell, all aged 24, and charged them with possession with intent to distribute.
Police are still looking into a fourth suspect, they said.
Police said they made the large bust thanks to a tip from Sacremento, CA. The Sacremento Drug Task Force informed Brookline Police of several FedEx packages that were bound for 185 Freeman Street, addressed to a fictional person in one of the apartments, according to a Brookline Police Department blog post.
Detectives believe the operation has been running for at least a couple of months, they said. The case is still under investigation.
