Conflicting Reports of Arrest in Marathon Bombing

CNN is reporting a suspect has been identified, but Boston Police say no one is in custody.

In a confusing and emotional afternoon, Boston Police report that no arrest has been made in the Boston Marathon bombing case. The official response comes after several national and local news outlets reported officials had a man in custody.

The FBI also released a statement saying there was no suspect in custody at this time, and implored the media to be careful when reporting on this case.

"Contrary to widespread reporting, no arrest has been made in connection with the Boston Marathon attack," read the FBI statement. "Over the past day and a half, there have been a number of press reports based on information from unofficial sources that has been inaccurate. Since these stories often have unintended consequences, we ask the media, particularly at this early stage of the investigation, to exercise caution and attempt to verify information through appropriate official channels before reporting."

Security video of the incident captured a "clear image" of the suspect's face while placing the package authorities are looking for, according to other reports.

Patch will provide updates as they become available.
