See the Video that Won an Emerson Student a Trip to the Oscars

Emerson College film student Hearin Ko will be handing out Oscar statuettes during Sunday's Academy Awards.

When you watch the Academy Awards on Sunday night, look for local student Hearin Ko. She'll be one of the ones handing out Oscar statuettes during the ceremony.

Ko, a film student at Emerson College, was among six students nationwide who won the “Oscar Experience College Search” for aspiring filmmakers through the Academy and mtvU.

The contest asked entrants to make a short video answering the question  “How will you change the future of movies?”

In her video, Ko says, “I think the film industry is ready for the next Asian film director. I like making films that blend reality with surrealistic elements. When I become a filmmaker, I want to set the boundaries clear and establish magic realism as an official genre in film.”
