New Look at Planned Fenway Tower "The Point"

Check out what the recently approved apartment tower on Brookline Ave in Fenway will look like once it's completed.

In a neighborhood that feels like it's under construction and will stay that way for the next several years, the latest apartment complex destined for the corner of Brookline Ave and Boylston Street was approved by the Boston Redevelopment Authority last week.

Samuels & Associates, the developer behind The Fenway Triangle and two large-scale housing developments on Boylston Street filed plans with the BRA in February for a new  $175 million development project, named "The Point."

That project, now up to $185 million, was approved last week. It will include 320 apartments in a 22-story, 33,000 square foot building, with 45,000 square feet for retail space on the ground floor.  Apartments will be a mix of studio, one, two, and three-bedroom units that will rent for $2,5000 to $4,000.

The developers say the project will create up to 400 construction jobs, and 200 permanent jobs.

The development will be situated at the corner of Brookline Avenue and Boylston Street, at the site of the current D'Angelos sub shop.

"'The Point' will transforme the corner from brick buildings and surface parking into a vibrant, transit and pedestrian oriented community," said the BRA in its approval. "The streetscape will be reconstructed to feature wider sidewalks, street furnishings, landscaping, and lighting. "
