Wheelock Appoints VP of Development & Alumni Relations

Wheelock College President Jackie Jenkins-Scott is pleased to announce the appointment of Jennifer Carr Rice as Vice President for Development and Alumni Relations, effective January 1, 2014. Ms. Rice has served as the Interim Vice President for Development and Alumni Relations since May 2013, and, after a national search, was selected to join the College on a permanent basis.

  “Jennifer brings to Wheelock a wealth of knowledge and a passion for our mission to improve the lives of children and families, “said President Jackie Jenkins-Scott.  “Her superior strategic vision and deep commitment will engage the wider campus community in development and alumni relations. I look forward with great enthusiasm to the contributions she will make to advancing Wheelock College.”

Ms. Rice brings an extensive background in fundraising, planning and leadership development to the position. She served as a consultant to Wheelock in 2006 developing a Strategic Advancement Plan for the College as part of its planning for the Campaign. Prior to Wheelock College, Ms. Rice was a consultant with The Wayland Group, a regional consulting firm to non-profit organizations, for thirteen years.  During her tenure, she worked with a variety of clients including: the Museum of Science, Mass General Hospital for Children, and the Boston Children’s Museum, on projects involving feasibility studies, campaign plans, development assessments and long range-plans.

Prior to becoming a consultant, Ms. Rice worked at The John F. Kennedy Library Foundation for ten years in development. At the Kennedy Library Foundation, she managed numerous events, grew the national membership base, increased annual program revenue, and ran a successful capital campaign.

Originally from New York City, Ms. Rice attended Bates College and has an MBA in Non-Profit Management from Boston University. She has served on the Board of the Massachusetts Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, as an annual fund volunteer and fundraising co-chair for her class at Bates and has volunteered on a number of gala committees.
