Police: Argument Leads to Brawl in Northeastern Classroom

The following information was supplied by the Boston Police Department. Charges listed do not imply conviction.

At 4:27 p.m. on January 15, officers were dispatched to Northeastern’s Dodge Hall at 360 Huntington Avenue to talk with a student about an assault and battery that occurred the day before.  

According to police, the victim stated that during a discussion in class, a student got into an argument with him, which turned violent. The victim stated that during the argument, the suspect stood up, approached the victim and flipped over his desk, causing his lab top to strike him in the face. The suspect then began to push the desk into the victim.  

At this point, the victim began to fight back, according to the police report. The suspect was able to punch, knee and elbow the victim. The victim threw punches and kicks in defense. The professor broke up the fight. The victim sustained a bloody nose and scratches to the face. The victim received medical treatment at Northeastern’s Health and Counseling Center.

Police spoke with the professor, who corroborated the victim’s story. Detectives also found pictures of the suspect on Facebook holding what appear to be automatic weapons. A separate investigation is underway regarding the weapons.  

At 7 p.m., Northeastern Police were dispatched to the Marino Center Gym at 369 Huntington Avenue to speak with the suspect about the incident. Officers arrested Rongshen Wang of 1193 Commonwealth Avenue and charged him with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
