Attempted Breaking and Entering Reported on Hemenway Street

The suspect did not gain access to the home, but police are investigating.

Police are looking into an attempted breaking and entering on Hemenway Street.

Boston Police responded to a report of breaking and entering at 20 Hemenway Street at 6 p.m. on Friday, December 7.

A caller reported to police that at some point in the previous night, someone attempted to enter the rear basement apartment door.

The caller stated that the suspect had damaged a portion of the doorframe around the doorknob. The building maintenance crew had fixed some of the minor damage.

The officer reportedly observed minor damage to the wooden door. The door is accessible from the alleyway, which runs parallel to Hemingway Street between Haviland Street and Norway Street. The suspect did not gain access to the building. Police said the investigation is ongoing.
