Driver Charged After Crashing into Cop Car

The following information was supplied by the Boston Police Department. These do not indicate convictions.

At 2:26 a.m. on Sunday, September 2, a Boston Police Officer was driving west on Ipswich Street at the bottom of Lansdowne Street when a Mazda pulled out of the Ipswich Street garage and collided into the marked police car.

 

Police reported that the Mazda driver said, “I’m sorry. I didn’t see you. I was just trying to swing around and pick up my friends.” The police car was driving at 15 miles per hour and was in their proper lane, according to the BPD.

The Mazda was damaged in the front right side by the headlight. The police car was struck on the left rear side. Upon further investigation, police determined that the driver of the Mazda had a Massachusetts I.D., but not a license. When the driver refused to accept medical attention, police officers placed him under arrest.

The Mazda driver, Alejandro Ramirez of 329 Essex Street, Lynn was arrested for operating without a license.

The police officers also refused medical attention. The Mazda was towed by Cityside Towing.
