Five Things You Need To Know Today, Thursday, August 23

Here are five things going on in and around town today.

1. Weather: The National Weather Service predicts another warm, sunny day with a high of 86 degrees. The evening will cool off to 67 degrees and remain clear.

2. Zombie Double Feature: The Boston Playwrights’ Theater is hosting a double zombie feature at 8 p.m. These shows are geared for the college aged kids and older, some material may not be appropriate for children under 17.

3. Microsoft Store Grand Opening:  is opening at The Shops at the Prudential Building at 9 a.m. Head down to attend the grand opening, and be one of the first to see the community theater space, interactive Kinect gaming areas and giveaways and prizes for attendees.

4. Creative Writing Workshop: The BPL is hosting an informal creative writing workshop on Thursday nights for anyone interested. Come read and discuss your work from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.in the McKim Conference Room.

5. BCYF Red Sox Talks: The Boston Center for Youth and Families is hosting the final Sox Talk of the summer at Rogers Park at 90 Rogers Park Ave. in Brighton. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. First is the Fenway challenge: running, hitting and throwing for kids ages 7 to 14, then a famous ball player will come and speak.
