Audubon Circle Neighborhood Association Updated on Fenway Center, Miner Street, 909 Beacon

The board discussed several issues involving Audubon Circle.

The Audubon Circle Neighborhood Association met Tuesday night for their monthly meeting of the board of directors.

"Friend of the Court" -  Board member Richard Ong updated the board on the ongoing issue holding up the Fenway Center development. Ong said that John Rosenthal of Meredith Properties had decided to draft a “friend of the court” briefing for a lawsuit preventing the construction progress of the Yawkey Way Train Station. No action has been taken yet on this issue. 

Miner Street - The board addressed the update on the Miner Street meeting with abutters, which . The developers were scheduled to appear before the board on Tuesday but did not. Richard Ong said that he had met with the developers, raising the same objections as the board had previously raised.

“The developers took our recommendations in to consideration,” Ong said. “Now we wait until September for another round.”

The board voiced an interest in making this building unavailable to undergraduate students. The city has also changed the parking on streets near Miner Street and Arundel Street from 2 hour parking to residential parking from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Update on 909 Beacon Street- The board also addressed the apartments at 909 Beacon Street, which are owned by Boston University. The board is concerned with the institution’s master plan to shift zoning laws in the area.

“An IMP overlay trumps local zoning,” board member Kathy Goodenough said.

The board has been trying to do everything they can to reduce the amount of students in Audubon Circle and they are concerned with Boston University having apartments that also serve as dormitories.
