New Residential Building Approved for Boylston McDonald's Lot

The new building will feature 322 residential units featuring a mix of studios, one, two, and three bedrooms, including 36 affordable units.

There's a new $150 million housing development coming to the McDonald's lot on Boylston Street in the Fenway.

The development at 1282 Boylston Street will feature 322 residential units which will be a mix of studios, one, two, and three bedrooms, including 36 affordable units, according to the Boston Redevelopment Authority (BRA.)

The 190-foot development totals 348,235 square feet, including 15,000 square feet on the ground floor for retail space and a community center. The development will also have a 3-story underground parking garage for 295 vehicles.

The project will create 600 construction jobs and has an estimated construction time of 18 months with a planned spring 2013 groundbreaking, according to the BRA.

The developer behind the project is the Abbey Group, which has designed Fenway's Landmark Center. The Abbey Group first got approval for the project in 2011 for office and residential space, then amended the design to all residential in August of 2012.
