Things to Know in Fenway-Kenmore Today, Oct. 10: Muddy River Groundbreaking
Here are five things going on in and around the Kenmore-Fenway neighborhood.
1. Weather: The National Weather Service predicts another cloudy day with a high in the low 60s. The evening will cool down to the lower 40s with a chance of showers.
2. Breaking news yesterday: In case you missed it last night, there was some breaking news in the Fenway neighborhood yesterday. Authorities identified the body found in the Charles River to be that of missing Boston graduate student Jonathan Dailey. Read more here.
3. The Rise and Fall of Poorhouses in Massachusetts: Poorhouses and town farms were seen as a means of reforming the poor and homeless in the Commonwealth from the 17th to the 20th centuries. The Boston Public Library-Central Branch is hosting a talk on poorhouses and the “tramp menace” from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.

4. Muddy River Groundbreaking: Today at 3 p.m, Governor Deval Patrick, Secretary of Energy & Environmental Affairs Rick Sullivan, Boston’s Mayor Thomas Menino, Dept. of Conservation and Recreation’s Commissioner Ed Lambert and the Army Corps of Engineers will be joined by state and local partners to break ground on Phase 1 of the $93 million Muddy River Flood Risk Management and Restoration Project, otherwise known as the Muddy River Restoration Project.
5. Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Present Fully Charged: Fully Charged is coming to the TD Garden. Fun for the whole family starts at 7 p.m. Cost of admissions ranges from $20 to $140. The circus will be here Wednesday through Sunday.
