VIDEO: A Peaceful Tribute to Marathon Victims

A Buddhist monk was among those who gathered at a makeshift memorial on Boylston Street on Wednesday afternoon, where visitors had begun leaving flowers, signs, T-shirts and other tributes in honor of the victims of the Boston Marathon bombing.

Dressed in dark red robes, the monk quietly approached the fenced-off area—behind which FBI investigators continued to work the crime scene—and laid flowers at the site, offering a prayer as he did so. The man then sat down in front of the memorial and began to ring a bell and read from a text in front of him, occasionally pausing to turn a page then continuing to ring the bell.
