Arlington Brothers Arrested at Kenmore Square Station

The brothers were arrested Tuesday night.

Two Arlington brothers were arrested Tuesday night at Kenmore Square Station in Boston and charged with trespassing.

According to MBTA Transit Police, the incident began at about 11:40 p.m. when the older brother, 28-year-old William Regan, yelled at an MBTA employee, bystanders and a fare machine and then evaded his fare by “piggybacking” in behind a paying customer.

At that time, a Transit Police officer approached Regan, who appeared to be intoxicated, and asked him to either pay his fare or leave the station, police said. Regan allegedly told the officer he was not going to pay or leave – at which point, he was escorted out of the station by the officer and told he was not allowed back in.

Outside the station, Regan was joined by his younger brother, 23-year-old Mark Regan, according to police. The two brothers attempted to reenter the station on the inbound side and again were told by the officer they were not allowed in the station, police said.

According to police, the brothers then encouraged each other to disregard the officer and proceed into the station. The officer warned the brothers that they would be arrested if they continued and then arrested the brothers when they did, police said.

During the book process, the officer allegedly found less than an ounce of marijuana on William Regan and cited him for possession of marijuana as well.

The brothers were expected to be arraigned Wednesday in Roxbury District Court on the trespassing charges.
