Man Arrested at Buried Treasures Carrying Brass Knuckles

A caller reported seeing the man enter the Haviland Street head shop with a gun, but police say all they found on him was a knife and a pair of brass knuckles.

Police arrested a Boston man on Wednesday for allegedly carrying two different types of weapons and marijuana into the Buried Treasures head shop on Haviland Street.

Police originally responded to the store at 1 p.m. for a report of a person with a gun inside the 28 Haviland Street store. The caller said that as he had been trying to enter the business, he accidentally opened the door into the suspect. The caller said the suspect reached into his jumpsuit and displayed what the caller thought was a firearm.

When police arrived, they found the male suspect and placed him into handcuffs. However, while searching him for weapons, police did not find any guns. They did find a large black folding knife and a pair of brass knuckles, according to the police report.

Officers then called in a K-9 officer with a firearm-detecting dog. The dog search also yielded no weapons.

Police arrested Renwick Samms of 112 Huntington Avenue and charged him with unlawfully carrying dangerous weapon. While being booked, police found two small bags of marijuana on the suspect, they said. Samms was issued city ordinance violations for unlawfully carrying a knife and possession of less than an ounce of marijuana.
