Tragic story. I'm left thinking "There but for the grace of god, go I" I recall the numerous times I was riding along that street and through that intersection....at times taking risks I shouldn't have, and other times dealing with inattentive drivers. It can be a jungle out there. STAY SAFE BOSTON BICYCLISTS!

Setting up more bike lanes ( when there isnt enough space for the cars let alone the bikes) and promoting the image that biking is safe is actually causing more accidents than back in the days when people thought biking in city traffic is crazy and when there were no bike lanes. Menino was wrong to add bike lanes to a narrow street. Biking is great, but works best on WIDE streets with separate lanes away from cars. Boston is too unsafe to bike in.
