Firefighters Rescue Man in Muddy River During Brush Fire

The discovery came as firefighters fought to put out a brush fire.

Firefighters battling a brush fire along the Muddy River were surprised to find a man floating in the water. Firefighters responded at 6 p.m. Saturday to calls of  small fire along the river's walking trail, near the department's dispatch center (located in the same building as police headquarters). 

"While extinguishing the fire, an adult male was found in the river. [Two] firefighters with water survival suits entered the water," according to the fire departent.

The man was badly burned and taken to Boston Medical Center for treatment, according to the department.
