Witnesses told police the incident began shortly after 8:00 a.m. when a Route 65 bus operator tried to avoid being ticketed for stopping in a no-standing zone on Commonwealth Avenue in Kenmore Square.

"A Boston Transportation Department employee walked over to the driver’s side of the bus and prepared to ticket the bus operator, who then drove the bus forward, allegedly striking the BTD employee.

The supervisor was taken to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries. Witnesses told police that after the bus made contact with the BTD employee’s van, the bus moved forward, striking the rear of a vehicle that was stopped before the traffic light. Witnesses told police the bus pushed one car into a second car.

The 34-year old bus driver, who has been with the MBTA for ten years, is undergoing the standard post-accident screening for drugs or alcohol. Transit Police continue to investigate."

Update 2:01 p.m.: According to Joe Pesaturo, bus driver Lataria Milton is being arrested and charged with Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon and Operating to Endanger.  She will be arraigned tomorrow in Roxbury District Court.
