Police: Man Charged with Huffing Chemicals in a Van on Brookline Ave

Police arrested a man with several tanks of nitrous oxide in the back of his van early Saturday morning.

The following information was supplied by the Boston Police Department. Charges listed do not imply a conviction.

While on patrol at 1:16 a.m. on Saturday, officers saw a crowd gathered around a minivan on Brookline Avenue. Officers observed deflated balloons on the ground and two frozen air tanks in the back seat.

Suspecting that these were used for nitrous oxide huffing, officers approached the van. The suspects attempted to close up the van and take off, police said, but officers were able to stop them.
