Police: Fenway Robbery Part of Sunday Crime Spree

A man held up on Jersey Street was one of several victims across the city, according to police.

A man robbed at gunpoint on Jersey Street was one of several victims of an early-morning string of incidents, according to Boston Police. 

According to bpdnews.com, the Fenway incident took place at 6:30 a.m., when a man walking to work was accosted by a man with a gun. The assailant walked up from behind the victim, flashed a gun and said, "Give me everything," according to the witness statement. The gunman then ran to a green station wagon and took off, according to the police blog.

The Fenway incident was the second of five armed robberies Sunday morning, according to police. Just a half hour earlier, officers responded to an alert from Shotspotter alert in Dorcester. Shotspotters are devices used to identify and locate gunfire. Police found a victim suffering from multiple gunshot woulds.

After the Fenway robbery, there were incidents in Hyde park, Dorcester and Roxbury, all of which police believe are connected. The second Dorcester incident also ended in a shooting. Both shooting victims were treated at Boston Medical Center. 

In several of the cases, witnesses reported a hispanic gunman who then fled into a green or blue station wagon. Officers arrested two men in connection with the spree.

Carlos Rivera, 24, and Eric Cruz, 23, both of Boston, were arrested by Boston Police and charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, unlawful possession of ammunition, carrying a gun on a public way, two counts of armed robbery, and five counts of unlawful gun possession.
