Police: Man Stole Pizza Delivery Car from Il Mundo's

The suspect allegedly told police he, "just drove it around the block."

The following information was supplied by the Boston Police Department. Charges listed do not indicate convictions.

If you ordered pizza from Il Mundo's on Friday afternoon, there's a reason your delivery was probably a bit delayed.

A pizza delivery employee from the Mass. Ave pizza shop reported his '97 Honda Civic was stolen around 3:30 p.m. on Friday, right outside of the store at 182 Massachusetts Ave.

As officers headed over to the pizza shop to investigate, they received an update that the suspect came back to the scene with the vehicle and was inside the restaurant, police said.

Witnesses told police they saw Michael Cimpher of 161 Intervale Street, Roxbury enter the vehicle and drive the wrong way on Germain Street. The witness said that the suspect came back to the restaurant and sat down at a table.

But upon questioning, the Cimpher allegedly told police he did not technically steal the car. “I didn’t steal his car," he allegedly told police. "I just drove it around the block.”

Officers arrested Cimpher charged him with larceny of a vehicle, and an outstanding warrant for his arrest for possession with intent to distribute a Class B substance out of Suffolk Superior Court.
