A 17-year-old remains in critical condition two days after a bus crash which caused injuries to dozens Saturday night, according to a Massachusetts State Police statement Monday.
The Cavalry Coach bus, which was full of students on their way back to Pennsylvania after visiting Harvard University, slammed into the Bowker Overpass on Soldier’s Field Road at 7:34 p.m. Saturday night.
The bus exceeded the 10-foot high limit imposed on large vehicles on the road and Storrow Drive. The Boston Globe reported over the weekend that the driver, Samuel J. Jackson, may have been looking at his GPS moments before the crash. No criminal charges have been filed in the incident as of Monday.
Rescue personnel worked through Saturday night first removing the victims and then clearing the bus from the road. Of the 42 passengers, 36 people were injured, including three with serious injuries and one with a life-threatening injury.
Police do not identify victims age 17 and younger, according to the statement. Police expect the completion of a collision reconstruction report “closer to the lower end” of 2 to 6 weeks.
