Election Day in Boston 2012: 15 Percent of Voters Cast Ballots by 9 a.m.

As of 9 a.m., Bostonians cast 58,854 ballots in the 2012 election.

The Boston Elections Department this morning announced that, as of 9 a.m., 58,854 ballots had been cast in polling locations across the city. The number represents 15.2% of the City’s registered voters.

In the Fenway-Kenmore neighborhood, residents dealt with shorter lines than the rest of the city. By 12 p.m., the wait at the Ward 4, Precinct 10 polling station at the Simmons Library was just over five minutes. 

Boston election officials announced yesterday they have more than the number of ballots required to satisfy each of the 387,142 registered voters eligible to participate.

During the 2008 presidential election, 236,525 ballots were cast out of a possible 380,881 reistered voters.

In the Fenway-Kenmore neighborhood (Ward 4, Precincts 5-10 and Ward 5, Precinct 2) there are 10,572 residents registered to vote.
