Northeastern to Face BC in 2013 Beanpot Finals

Northeastern beat BU for the first time in 25 years to advance to the finals of the annual citywide college hockey tournament.

Never say never.

The Northeastern Huskies beat the Boston University Terriers 3-2 on Monday night, their first victory over their Fenway rivals since 1988, earning them a spot in the finals versus Boston College next Monday night.

Standouts for Northeastern were freshman Kevin Roy who scored all three goals against BU and goalie Chris Rawlings who logged 33 saves in the victory.

"I've been a part of this tournament for a long time and heard all of the facts and figures on how Northeastern hasn't beaten Boston University for 15 years," Huskies coach Jim Madigan told the Associated Press. "The facts and figures don't win hockey games. It's hard work."

Boston College (16-7-2) will be seeking its 18th title and a school-record fourth straight championship in next Monday night's Beanpot finals. The Huskies have won the tournament four times in Beanpot history.
