Federal and museum officials updated the public with new developments in the half-billion-dollar robbery, one of the largest art heists in history.
BOSTON, MA -- FBI officials announced Monday they know who committed one of the biggest art heists in history, but they still need the public's help to locate the 13 missing pieces of art. “The FBI believes with a high degree of confidence in the years after the theft the art was transported to Connecticut and the Philadelphia region and some of the art was taken to Philadelphia where it was offered for sale by those responsible for the theft,” said Richard DesLauriers, Special Agent in Charge of the Boston FBI office. “With that same confidence we have identified the thieves who are members of a criminal organization with a base in the mid-Atlantic states and New England.” Officials believe the art was smuggled into Connecticut and …

Do you recognize any of these women?
There are three persons of interest in a theft of a $9,000 Louis Vuitton handbag. The handbag was stolen from the Island Creek Oyster Bar at the Hotel Commonwealth, 500 Commonwealth Avenue between 9:45 and 10:15 p.m. on Saturday, July 21. The handbag contained credit/debit cards and other material according to MassMostWanted.com Police have named the three attached photos of the women as persons of interest. Police scanner reports indicate a man took the mascot costume from the stadium sometime before 3 p.m. Friday.
Wally the Green Monster may have been kidnapped from Fenway Park. Or, at least, a man has apparently stolen the mascot costume from the stadium. Public Safety Twitter user AlertNewEngland first reported the theft. According to the scanner transmission, both Boston and Transit police are searching for the mascot costume. Witnesses report the suspect was last seen absconding down Ipswich Street with the Wally costume about 20 minutes ago. In a call this afternoon, Boston police declined to identify what was stolen, but said they were investigating a larceny in progress at 4 Yawkey Way.
