Wentworth to Build New On-Campus Dorm

The Wentworth Community Task Force will meet on Tuesday.

Wentworth Institute of Technology announced last week it will build a new on-campus residence hall. The new dorm will house 305 students inside 71 apartments, and include areas for common hangout and work spaces and bicycle storage.  Nearly $70 million in tax-exempt bonds from MassDevelopment, according to a statement. “The opportunity to live on-campus has a direct positive impact on students’ academic success as well as on the quality of their lives,” said Wentworth President Zorica Pantic in a statement. “MassDevelopment has played a key role in further growing our residential campus, allowing Wentworth to provide attractive housing options for junior and senior students.” The project is expected to create more than 450 construction …

$43 Million Wentworth Dorm Coming to Huntington Avenue

The City of Boston approved the college's plans for a new 7-story dorm at 525 Huntington Ave.

Wentworth Institute of Technology received a green light on its new 7-story, 114,000 square foot dormitory building on Huntington Avenue when the city approved its plans last week. The Boston Redevelopment Authority unanimously approved the plans for a, $43 million, 305-bed dorm at 525 Huntington Avenue on Thursday.  The new dorm will allow Wentworth to house up to 96 percent of its student population in university housing, most of them junior and seniors.  "The majority of bedrooms (72%) will be occupied by a single student to provide the residents with an increased degree of privacy and a quality of materials and amenities that many students seek when they opt for off campus housing," the college noted in its filing with the city.
